The candidates at Qing's Provincial and Metropolitan Examinations all write in black ink, hence all answer papers for the examinations are also called ink papers. The front middle of the cover page of ink papers has the venue number of the examination, and the candidates write their names, backgrounds, where they earned their provincial graduate on the left and right side of the cover page. Together with draft papers, the examination will be sealed by bureaucrats' main seals on both the front and back side after submssion.
