Written Record of Provincial and Metropolitan Examinations

Go back
Upon the Qing Dynasty's Provincial and Metropolitan Examinations, apart from the Roster of Successful Candidates being presented to the Emperor, the record of the examination will also be presented post-examination. The record contains the names of the bureaucrats working at the examination, the examination itself, and the list (number, name, rank, birthplace) of passed scholars. The record also collects the excellent papers from the passed scholars' examinations. The format is the same for recording both the Provincial and Metropolitan Examinations. The Record of the Provincial Examination of the Shuntian Prefecture is submitted (to the Emperor) by the Shuntian Prefecture Head; the Record of Metropolitan Examinations is submitted by the Board of Rites; the Record of Provincial Examinations is first collected by the Board of Rites and submitted altogether.
